ok mixed basket 1971 and later shovel motor fresh rebuild.
I was going to adjust my push rods. Solid rods and Solid followers
I can not for the love of god get those dame spring clip retainers back on.
It is almost like they are to long.........
I will mention the bike HAD o-rings at the bottom for a seal and cork in the rocker boxes.
I put cork in both because i was told that is how it is supposed to be.
Can I leave the cork and Just trim the Clips?
Should I abandon the cork and go back to Oring in the bottom they dont seem to seal very much but it didnt leak before.
I use this works wonders for those tight fitting ones, be sure you didn't accidentally double up on the corks somewhere. Easy mistake to make in the spring cap.
PS, if the lifter blocks are later years they are cut for o-rings or the square quad ring, fights you too much go back to what you found.
YOU SAID - you are blinding early and late oushrod stuff is the reason it wont work - picture the bottom chrome tube so it can be ID
Agree... there were at least 3 different "sealing methods" to Shovelhead pushrods... Bad JuJu to mix and match...But... maybe If you identify the various interfaces... it can work...
I went with O-ring bottom, cork on the top thats what was on there. Not that its right but it didnt leak and is not leaking. Life has been trying to give it to me ever since that weekend so I apologize for not continuing with this but here is what we are working with for components. What should it be.
thanks guys.

O-rings top & bottom.
And those push rods are junk, those cheap solids kits were a pain in the *** as they are noisy, hard on the lifters & blocks because of the angle they run at and tend to rub the inside of the push rod tubes.
