In the middle of my rebuild of my chopper and found a spring on the ground, chassis based off 74 FX, engine 79 FL 1200. Found this spring on the ground and do not recognize it.
Things that have been done to give you an idea of what I've been in to.
Full top end, front and rear masters rebuilt. Outter primary off, clutches cleaned reinstalled. It has an S&S oil pump on it and I did replace the check ball, double checked there, that's a straight spring. Solid lifters which never came out or appart. I did not go in to the nose cone or had inner primary off.
This spring is clean, I mean super clean, zero oil on it, zero rust, almost like it's brand new. I did buy a Cometic full gasket set for it so it's possible it came out of there but don't see it in the list.
I walked into my shop last week and almost tripped over a big greasy black bolt in the middle of the floor. Problem is I haven’t worked on my bike for a month and I honestly don’t understand where it came from and what it’s for. But I’m being totally honest, it was in the middle of the floor. Like an angel, or the devil put it there. And I’m still a little freaked out.
Almost looks like a plunger spring for the piston in a brake master cylinder. Not sure though. Did you get a Master cylinder rebuild kit?
I did and already checked both kits (I save old parts for a while), front and rear accounted for. Both plunger springs are cone shaped and longer. Thank you tho.
