Default Primary Part # Check

Morning gents,

I am looking for a part # check for the inner and outer primary for my 1970 FLH. Per my book:

Outer primary 60508-70
Inner primary 60619-70

There is an outer on the Bay right now showing a casting # of 60510-70 and looks like it would be correct for 1970 FLH. This has me questioning my part #'s. But perhaps the casting # does not match the part #?????

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Harley-Davi...53.m1438.l2649

Anyone that can check their books to confirm, it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows if the casting # for the outer and/or inner match the part #?

And if you have either part and are looking to get it out of your way, I am your man.

There may be exceptions, but in my experience Harley casting or stamped numbers never match the actual part number. In fact, that applies to just about every automotive part I've ever handled...

Odd, my parts book doesn't list an inner for a 70', outter shows as a 60508-70.

That outer primary cover will work for your 70 and will clean up nicely. Price is definitely fair.

Nice to see almost zero road rash on the outside bottom. Goober on the inside looks like the compensating sprocket nut backed off and beat against the inside a bit.

I bought the outer, one of the better ones I have seen recently. Still in the hunt for an inner, which is really the piece I need. I have a CCI on my bike that has been butchered and abused.

Just a thought........

Only original decent ones on the flea right now are for FXE models. Only difference between them and FLH models is the extra hole drilled for the mid shifter. Plug it and you cannot tell unless someone sticks a mirror down the backside of the inner primary.

At least you could dump the CCI.

Interesting idea. Prices on the Bay seem a bit steep, going to the Sunshine Meet, I think I will wait and see if I can find something a little cheaper. Not expecting to tackle that project till next winter, so maybe patience will reward me. Or maybe the primary will keep dripping like a stuck pig and I will be doing this when I come back!?!?!?!?!? Thanks again.
