What year bike are you working on? My 78 1/2-84 FX/FL manual doesn't show pink wires on any of the breakers, just grey and white on the ignition breaker, orange on the accessory, and blue and green on the lights breaker. The main feed from the battery to the ignition switch is red, could it be faded? Also, some aftermarket ignitions use pink for the tach wire, but that shouldn't be hot.

thanks thats what i need. its the org wire to the taco causing the problem will pull the dash.i once remember there were wires taped up to the taco from someones doggy electrical work

Yeah and Ive seen guys use precision tools for hammers....doesnt mean they knew what they were doing. He said he had a problem with the pink wire, this schematic specifically has the pink wire at the tach. Im convinced this guy will come back with agreement on the Clymers wiring diagram above specific to 80-82 FXE. As for the Clymers, not everyone agreed, I still have mine after 40 years.
