I had looked into DIY electroplating and the articles said 2v is ideal, and more just causes the water to release hydrogen bubbles, which is what I saw with 3v. I bought a nice 0-30vdc 5amp power supply and will see how that works out next time I try plating. BTW, the electrolyte is a weak acid, my pants have the holes to prove it.
Yes it is. I'll soda blast the rest of the paint off and lead the dents so I don't ever have to worry about thin metal cracking or leaks.
Been busy with other chores, but both fenders are stripped now.
I'm not real happy with the front fender, there is crash damage and rusty chrome. I would buy a good OEM fender if anyone has one. Vivid Black would be the most common, right?
There are several on ebay, but they do not look much better than yours. Unless you can find a really good OEM one, it might be worth it to undo the rivets, have the chrome redone, fix your fender, paint it and rerevit the fender braces.

Yes, good OEM is what I was hoping for. People stash all kinds of things for the right moment.

Nice, I use good old fashioned Washing Soda in a Rubber Horse trough.....Outside.....Then you only have to deal with Slimey Rust water with a High alkaine content.
Accomplished a few things in between working at my rental and enjoying summer. The humidity broke so I could paint the oil tank with the Majic Tractor spray paint. I also sanded the side covers and thought about the fender struts. I have to soda blast the bad one to get the crud off the inside, so that will wait until I can get to my friend's.
We finished the lead work this week, but I didn't take pictures. It's not perfect, but I can finish with plastic filler with no worries about hairline cracks in the tank.
I picked up a few parts the other day. I will disassemble the front fender and use the two best struts. Hope to find a new speedometer cable bracket too.
Where can I find the rivets and tool to install them?
@Racepres would you send me or post a picture of where this decal goes on the oil tank? I think I know but want to confirm. Thanks

Yes, I will try for a Pic...Soon
They are on left side, opposite the Filler. Following the "rib" or "seam"
Oddly, the spacing to the "seam" seems to Vary a bit!!!
On Later models the "Battery Warning" is close to the seam to make room for the "Oil Overfill" warning tag. Below it, crowding the top of the oil tank slightly..
