Took a minute to get a pic
Note this is a later Bike... on the '82 the decal is almost a 1/4 of an inch from the Seam, and on the '83 it is that close!!!
HTH
The tool is not cheap but it proved invaluable. I have a second set of bags that I had restored as well and will use the tool to reintall the hardware on those as well.
I only have the 91/92 Part Catalog. It shows #8519 for the fender rivets. Not sure if that is applicable to your year model tho.
Did you keep an original one. If so you could measure it and probably get the tubular rivets thru Hansen as well
Thanks for the lead. My fender has seven #8505 rivets and one longer #8520 that holds the speedometer cable guide. I will match the ones I removed.
After letting the paint cure for a very long time, I installed the oil tank with its warning label and a coat of wax to protect the finish. Also installed the hoses to the tank with OEM style clamps. I left the other ends long and will trim to fit when the time comes.
While waiting for time to use my friend's blast cabinet on the tins, I disassembled and cleaned the two electrical side panels. I'll give them a coat of paint set them aside until I get the wiring harness sorted. I haven't looked at it too carefully yet, but there are a few little issues that need fixing. If it is too bad I'll just buy a new American-made one.
This summer humidity is killing me - tins have been blasted and waiting for coat of epoxy sealer before process of filler, sandable primer, more sealer, then paint.
Meanwhile, I blasted and painted the ignition and electrical panels. I used VHT black epoxy spray can to give a different finish than the frame etc., and brush-on silver rustoleum. I also ordered new circuit breakers.
I also picked up this complete ham can filter at the Terryville AMCA meet a couple weeks ago. The fender struts have been soda blasted too.
