Engine seal question

Default Engine seal question

I had to replace a leaking transmission seal so the inner primary had to come off. While I have it all apart I decided to look at the engine seal too.
Now my question is being that I have isolated my primary I have heard that the engine seal should be reversed, is this important? I have a new seal they are cheap enough and can do it now while it is apart.

Leave it alone. They say it should be reversed, but in reality it makes no difference.

That is how I installed the seal in my `89 EVO, and it has been running like that for about 80,000 miles since with no issue.

The put it in reverse guys - are the same ones leaving the bar put it in D and aim it

dont forget to use a good sealant around the edge

My 82FLH with oem oil supply to the primary chain was in reverse from the factory. I replaced it (same as you when i replaced the transmission seal) the "normal " way round...no probs
BTW that alt winding looks like a two year old wound it. just sayin

That's all AMF could afford back then...…..
