LED headlight for FXE superglide
There are possibly better performing options, but they cost 3-5 times as much and are only marginally 'better'.
You simply cannot get a better value than the Sunpie lights.
The unit that shipped to me had an aluminum housing with finned backside for cooling.
Given that the headlamp bucket is a junction for practically everything on the wring harness, I couldn't get the headlamp to close, as the housing and fins need more space than available.
I used a small hand grinder/disk to remove probably half or more of the fin length, and used a flat file to clean up and minimize sharp edges.
To avoid potential issues with heat melting wire insulation or vibration wearing through wire insulation, I added a thin piece of rubber to the back of the housing, held with a few dabs of silicone rubber so it would stay in place during install.
I also spent time looking at the wiring in the bucket, and wherever possible repositioned wires to maximize space. A few small zip ties helped.
The lamp fit, but it took a small bit of pressure to keep the lamp in place while tightening the trim piece that keeps everything buttoned up.
So far no issues whatsoever. The low beam provides good light and has a clean horizontal cut for oncoming vehicles. The high beam is not incredibly brighter but does add some fill.
But I don't advise cutting the fins, they're there for a reason. Even on my 94 FXSTC, I had to get a deeper bucket.
