The good news is that I found and fixed the issue after having spent about a half-day going thru almost everything in the headlight bucket that was somehow connected to the flasher and the 6-plug connector.

I took the sissy bar off and removed the bolts holding the fender to the right strut. I removed the right turn signal wire and found this...wire was pinched between the frame and fender strut. The bare wire caused the ground. There were no turn signal when I purchased the bike. I added the signals, wires and two pin connector. Definitely on me for the mistake.

Doesn't take much to screw things up. Replaced the wire, tested the system and all electrical components now work as intended.

Thanks for the assist people. Now my wife doesn't have to look at me when I come as I stare at the walls and do not interact with her as of late because I am writing down or visualizing my next steps.
i had the same problem. the left rear blinker was cut and earthing out. lucky my mate is a wizard with electrics who found the problem

Don’t understand why but on a couple bikes the PO’s would cut the wires to the tail light to remove rear fender. Have found several splices there by the oil tank that have caused issues. Since the terminal board is right there under the coil, wouldn’t it make sense to disconnect the wires there eliminating the need to splice wires?

It would definitely make more "sense" but that also means removing one of the female pin connectors (either right of left side to separate them). Seems lot of people just don't want to spend the two bucks or so for the tool to do it properly.
