Turn signal/running light problem... What do you think?
I noticed something wrong with the bike's rear right running light. When I turn the main switch to the ignition position, the rear right running light stays off for 2 or 3 seconds while the other 3 (2 front and rear left) running lights turn on instantly. Sometimes the running light goes on after those 2 or three seconds and some other times remains off until I press the brakes (I have installed one of those HD running light modules and two philament bulbs, I've had it for over a year and no problems)...
So, what do you think? Bad module? Bad bulb? False contact?... man I hate electrical problems!...
Mimo, the first thing I would do is go over all the connections that were messed with during the install. That has the highest risk of failure. Anytime something is touched the odds go up. I had an electrical problem concerning my lights too and it was due to a grounded wire from the turn signal relocation mod.
hmmmm, weird... have you heard that little noise the tach/speedo does every time you turn on the ignition? That is more or less how long it takes for the bulb to turn on (when it does turn on) when not, I have to pump the brakes and voilá it goes on but I turn off the ingnition, then turn it on again and the bulb does the same darn thing... I'm thinking bad brake/running lights module, I'm switching bulbs left to right and viceversa to see if the right one keeps failing, then it won't be the bulb, then replace the module to see what happens... if that does not solve the problem... I'll dive into the darn wiring
Try swapping the bulb first as that is simple. I had one of those modules and had a problem and eventually took the module out and everything went back to normal. I threw the module in the trash. Problem solved
Tnx, I'l do that (swap the bulbs and check the ground).
Andrew, Yes, it is not the first time I heard about those modules failing. Last one I heard broke easily into pieces, I'll have to check for mine, last night I was too damn tired to look under the damn seat.
Ok, no room for doubt now. I switched bulbs, and still the right rear one off, now it is not even intermitent, the running light remains off. When I hit the turn signal switch, it works as it should... It is the damn module...
I'm thinking on replacing the module, I need to be visible at night and my "panacea" led stop light from KRK is not enough...
How about you guys? You have rear running lights or just turn signals????
