Seen that Many Times... But... I usually witness the Solenoid and/or Ford type relay burning closed due to low Battery... No Help...and the Bosch relay can handle the Solenoid just as well as the ford type relay... so... I Keep Good Batteries, and simple O.E. Wiring!!
After taking on board everyone's suggestions, it got to the stage of connecting up the battery again and after double, triple and quadruple checking everything I could possibly think of earthed the negative cable and...... nothing, narda, zip.
No starter motor whirring sound, no sparks, nothing.
So I bolt the earth cable to the frame and wait. Again, nothing.
Mission accomplished!
thanks everyone for the help, you have all come up with the solution to my starter spinning for no reason and help me fix the problem
