Default Chain Drive Recommendations

Any recommendations for a new drive chain? Will all 530's work or will I need a specific style? 84 FXE hardtail - I believe OEM is 530/102.

Thanks.

They all fit but don't use an O Ring chain if you have a 24-tooth front sprocket and electric starter things get ugly. RK or DID for the win.

inside of your primary will get trashed… ALWAYS stick with a 23 on the tranny. If you have a stroker maybe think about a 46 or 47T rear gear. If it’s a 74 or 80 inch even with cam and maybe a little extra compression try to go 49. If it’s a bar hopper go 51T

My 1979 Electra Glide FLH King of the Highway full dresser Shovelhead has been running a 24 tooth front & o-ring chain with 51-tooth rear since 2001 "upgrades".

NO worries! 😎

as said.. I only like a 23 on the tranny. Too many issues using 22 or 24. With a stock motor a 49 is about all I’d go down in revs. You need more power to go 48-45. Raising rd stir more pep a 51 is about as high as I’d recommend. You do t wannabe 4000rpm at 55 mph
