Oh, I'm learning fast.

I had just changed the rear brake hose because the rear wheel was dragging and just wanted to go around the block, and I guess the battery was weak.

I just took the starter solenoid apart and cleaned the contact washer?? and the posts it contacts with. I took the disconnected circuit wire and touched the pos. bat post and it cranks the engine over so nothing I did today cured the problem. Also, I noticed that with the circuit wire disconnected I don't get any dash lights (oil gen or neutral) with the ignition switch on. If I touch the circuit breaker wire to the hot side of the battery they come on.
When I first put all this together everything worked fine. Go figure. I wonder if the circuit breaker is stuck or shorted internally, I got it from JP.
Is it possible that the BAT. contact inside the voltage regulator might be stuck??

I have that on it now. The first time I put the later primary cover on and tried to start it I never relised without it the shaft was to short.

Rear brake dragging is usually the master to pedal pin distance is too tight - it acts as if your foot is lightly on the brake

This was a collapsed brake hose. I couldn't blow through it might even be the original? Rear wheel would lock and I couldn't even push it back into garage.

Yea seen that as well the dot 3 brake fluid got to the layers if you cut it open you can what happened

I found the problem; it was the relay under the battery box I guess the points got stuck. I had bought a used one in a swap meet; I can't remember where or how long ago Just remember testing it and it was still good.
Now on to the next two problems not charging and why does it leak oil like a drunken sailor. Welcome to the world of old Harley Davidsons.
