This is a 2 part question.
1) This is only the 4th oil pump I've done and this thing is being a pain in the ****. the second set of gears that go on do not want to cooperate. I've been struggling for over a week and the shaft key will not cooperate. I've tried everything dry and with assembly lube. If I put the key on a spare oil pump shaft the gear slides right over the key, no problems. When I put the key on the installed shaft I can't get the key to slide into the same gear. What's the trick? Am I missing something?
2) The arrow in the picture points to an oil fitting. I would like to put the extended/longer fitting in that spot but I can't find one. Anybody know where I can find the longer oil fitting that goes there?
In the cam cover you need to hold the shaft in a wood taper wedge works with the cone off - dont know how your attempting this
if you have not pulled the cone - the inside key way may and can fall out when pushed through the opening clip end - then the new pump does not work at all
