Default Strange Question

Hey guys had an idea. Been trying to find or build another shovelhead since I sold mine a few years ago. It was a kicker rigid and I loved it but it had to go. Im now in a place where I can get another project moving. Here's the question would a cone shovelhead 76 - 80 fit and work in a late 80s or 90s dyna wide glide? Was thinking of trying this because it would be a more modern set up...suspension controls brakes five speed...whats your thoughts? Anybody attempted this? If so pics would be appreciated.

What you want is an early FXR.

I am a longtime, multiple, Shovelhead owner, have owned a Twin Cam Softail, an Evo Dyna WideGlide, and do still have in addition to my Shovelhead SuperGlide, an Evo equipped Softail. By far the Dyna WideGlide is the worst Harley I ever owned! The Dyna frame is just stupid! The kick stand is in the wrong location and the bike has an oil pan protruding below the frame rails. It was miserable to jack up to work on or even change the oil. Pick a different canvas to to do your project. That is my opinion and I stand by it.

ETA: both Softails handled light years better than my swing arm Shovelhead. I am told it is not hard to install a Shovel into a Softail frame. I have no direct knowledge of that.

I upgraded my front end to a 1200R sporty on both with dual modern front disc brakes. It stopped and handled but I preferred the Evo, its just a better engine and makes more power.

Not really set on a softail atm. Just asking what works. I want another shovelhead but i can't find one under 5k thats not beat to death. Found a couple for 4500 but they were gone quick. I'm not looking for perfect but a clean engine and driveline is a must. Tins brakes and wiring no biggie. Engine complete rebuild is not something I want to jump into and would put me over budget. Thanks for the info.

If a pan fits, so will a shovel.
