Damaged O-ring lip on engine case (Fix) ?

Question Damaged O-ring lip on engine case (Fix) ?

Hello every one ! hope your enjoying the weekend !
i have a question for you all, i have a cracked / broken O-ring lip on my engine case where it seals up the inner Primary, i see this kit is used to repair or replace the damaged O-ring lip , my question is do i need to completely remove the rest of the undamaged lip ? any suggestions are welcomed ! thanks


any one use this repair kit ? any advice is welcomed !

A picture of the damaged lip would be more likely to get you an answer

No the kit is to aid in the fix - also actually striping the engine to the cases and welding and then machining is the real fix BUT not necessary

do not remove and more of the cracked or broken off ring

I think there are two different manufacturers or marketers of the exact same kit. The one I used said to the remove the lip, I saw where others said you didn't have to remove the lip. I went against the instructions in my kit and did not remove the lip. It has held up for years. You do not have to remove the lip, regardless of what the instructions say.

Follow what John said. If you (or anyone) wants to repair it correctly later, removing more broken material will likely make it harder to repair.

If you see any areas that's cracked enough that might eventually break off, I'd probably remove that, otherwise leave it.
