Default turn signal switchs

Does anyone make a turn signal switch set that will fit in my 84 flh that will keep the turn signals on without holding the button down. My wife occasionally rides this bike and she has trouble keeping the switch depressed through a turn.

Thanks

Here you go:
http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproduct...LECTRONICS.htm

AUTOMATIC TURN SIGNAL SHUT OFF MODULE III

I installed an older version of these, it was much larger, on an `83 sportster and loved it! Only issue was a place to put it. It looked ugly but my only recourse on the sportster was to leave it sitting on the lower tree. Looks like the new ones are MUCH more compact so they might even relocate under the seat. The " Hold the Button" system on early H-D's was definately NOT one of their better ideas.....
For the record, I just use good old fashoned hand signals with my `79. Much easier, legal and no messing with wiring....

I agree with you and if I was the only person riding this bike it wouldn't have ANY turn signals.

Thanks for the link.

Hey it's worth it. I give your OL all the credit in the world for wanting to ride with you.... Mine tried, when I had my `83, but just didn't adapt to the hand clutch, foot shift. She rode it six blocks out and back and never dropped it but figured it wasn't for her....

My 2¢ worth... Teach your wife that it isn't important for the drivers on the new street to know that she is joining them, and to let go of the turn button just prior to turning. That way she won't depress the button through the turn. Using this method she still will have indicated to the drivers behind her her intentions. This option costs as much as hand signals.

I found holding the turn button while making a turnwas rather moranic and cumbersome. So since I had to rewire my handlebar controls anyway (because all the wiring was corroded and the buttons were useless), what I did was I bought a$5miniture on-off-on toggle switch from Radioshack and wired it up with my turn signals on the master cylinder/throttle side, since I just have a block-off switch plate. On the clutch side, I use the left button as a horn button, and the right button is fortheejector seat! LOL. The only challenge now is for me to remember to cancel the blinking light after I've made my turn or lane change. So what I usuallydo nowisjust use hand signalsduring the day time, and at night I use the switch asI can see the light blinking - which is really what I needturn signal lights for is at night. In case anyone is wondering, the black tie-wrap loopnext to the switch plate to to hang my sunglasses/goggle when not in use, but don't leave it there whenriding, lest you want a new pair!

Following the thread, and getting slightly off topic... I have no functioning turn signals right now. I will have to have that fixed so I can pass inspection and get tags. However, I do not let the lack of functioning electronics stop me from riding safely or legally, day or night. I noticed a cop directing traffic one day. He was wearing lycra half gloves with reflective pieces sewn on both sides of the glove. The back of the hand has a 2" fluorescent lime yellow triangle and five more rectangular pieces about ½"x1", one on each finger. In the palm of the glove is another 2" triangle, but this one is fluorescent orange. So, I signal yellow to turn and orange to brake. I bought a pair for a passenger, too. It never hurts to increase visibility.

First time I wore them it was in theafternoon, and in my mirror I saw a cop in the distance, closing in on me. So, I signaled to change lanes. He pulled up beside me, slowed down, lowered his window and said he could see my signal from Âź mile away. Friends have commented that they show up well at night, even beyond the "reach" of their headlights.

Having to use hand signals and grab my clutch while turning has taught me to quit signaling during the turn, and to get back onto the business of driving. I signal, I quit signaling, I grab my clutch & downshift, and I turn. It's not important to signal THROUGH the turn. Once you've turned, the people who are now behind you don't care how you got there, and before you turned, you let those behind you know what you were going to do. I bet if you paid close attention in your car, you would notice that the turn signal turns off before the car straightens out of the turn.

By the way, those gloves can be picked up at any uniform supply store for around $20, either a brick and mortar store or an online store. Oh, and because they're lycra, they've got enough give to fit over full gloves if you ride on the winter.

Ended up ordering the black box from Badlands. Was more money than I wanted to spend but it adds the brake light feature to the rear turn signals, adds autocancelling. AND it gives her one less thing to think about.

Thanks for the help guys. I will post when I have installed the unit to let you know how it is working.
