Default FLH-1200 1977 modified

Hello,
First time posting on this forum/thread, so I apologize in advance if I have posted my remark in a bad spot. I wanted to reach out to ask for assistance on this 1977 FLH-1200 Harley I was gifted by my grandfather. I intend to get it running, but I have hit a road block on the dash's electrical setup. Initially from asking around, it seems that the 1977's had a 5 bulb dash kit and blinkers, but it seems that someone (maybe my grandfather) has modified the bike to remove this and now has a 3 bulb dash kit. The wiring, when I got into it, was a complete mess and the 6 post ignition switch had only 3 wires coming off of it and was mounted backwards. The bulbs are completely removed as well as the fuses (I think) associated with them. I have been looking up electrical schematics online for how the 6 post ignition would be wired up and from what I have seen it goes just as below in the attached photo. I need a logic check from someone who knows what they are doing as I seem to be grasping onto perhaps the wrong idea. I have more questions and photos, but will hold onto them to make sure I am not being bothersome.
Thank you,
Isaiah.

Looks like you have it wired like the diagram.

The red circle would be power coming from the battery and the accessory could be to run parking lights or a radio etc.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply, the attached photo is not my bike, but a photo I found online. I attached it as a reference according to the 2D drawing above it. My current electrical setup is all disconnected until I know what to do.

Harley Factory Service Manuals are available on line. The Bay has originals (check for your year) and copies. The copies can be hard or digital, either way you get the factory diagram and that will answer dozens of your questions. Good luck.

Looks good.
I don't know what year but the Factory added a yellow jumper between the "lights" and "ignition" terminals so that the lights would illuminate when switch was in the ignition position. Probably added when Lights on in daytime was mandated

Architect,
I have been using an paper copy of the 77', but since the front panel was changed, I have been modifying the electrical work to match that of the changed components. From my google searches, it seems to be a 65-67 Electra Glide that the bike was changed with. I found some electrical schematics for both of those and I am trying to "Frankenstein" them together to get something that will work. Below is my current thought process on how the electrical diagram should go for my bike, as it is a mash of 2 eras.
Thank you,
Isaiah

Lots of difficulties with that set up.
No kill switch
no start button
No starter relay
No brake switches, no feed to brake light in tail lamp
Tail lamp has 2 12 volt feeds
the ? at bottom of coil goes to the points.
the devices attached to the breaker at the battery terminal should be relocated to their proper circuit breakers. ( that breaker is for the starter relay and ignition switch feed)
I'm guessing you have an alternator, not a Generator,
Have the turn signals been retained?
only a guess, but the black wire ? at tail lamp should be a ground only after removal from circuit breaker at battery.

Baird,
First off, thank you for your informative reply, wasn't sure what I was missing, but this is a great place to look. As for what is missing from this diagram, the bike lacks all buttons of any kind besides an ignition button next to the oil canister. There are other switches/buttons, but there are for the headlights and a horn. It seems that whoever modified this bike tried to remove all extra features to have a 60's feel (as that was the electrical diagram I can find that has similar parts and is minimalistic). This includes; no turn signals, no handle bar buttons of any kind, one headlight, and when I got into the 6 post ignition switch (as mentioned in OP), only 2 pins were connected. Is it possible to get the bike running again with this minimalistic design?
Thank you,
Isaiah

Don't know if you are just trying to get it running for time being, but in the end I suggest using wire colors and gauge that match the OEM ones as much as possible. It will be a lot easier to follow later if you need to make other repairs / additions. Especially if you every sell the bike.

Here is a link to the factory manual, if the link don't work google Carl Salter manuals and you can find it there. It will be useful for other thing also. https://www.carlsalter.com/mcpdf/Har...%20Service.pdf
