With no head gasket, it was probably sucking oil out of the drainage channel as it was trying to make its way back to the crankcases, the carbon buildup on the barrel spigot would suggest that in any case.

Good point. Either way, I have the top end apart and taking it in this weekend. Not seeing any more crosshatching on the cylinders and could use a good cleaning and the valves looked at.

Who you taking the machine work to? Nobody around here since Hannan’s closed.

The Sugar Baby boys. For years they were just making parts and sand casting but started doing service work. - they built a killer Shovel for Born Free. They were working out of a shop they built up in Ben Lomond for a couple years but just actually got a commercial space in Felton. Everyone also tells me Pat up in Sonora is the godfather for the central valley. Duncan still kickin too.

Jim Carr from Chinos was a neighbor, had his ministry a couple blocks away, nobody doing the old iron cylinders I can find, everybody is a Twinkie kit monkey now.
