look I love VINTAGE HARLEY REVIVE but he only works on sporters, and Harley hardcore riders look at sportster as more like a step up from a dirt bike, so what y'all think is a sportster a Harley
...know we are in the Shovel section but I can't let this slide without comment. ***** any and all so-called 'Harley hardcore riders' that think a Sporty is a step up from a dirt bike.
But a Sportster is not a Shovelhead and that`s where you`re posting
Certainly Apples and Tomatoes!!! I use a Sportster Differently than any Shovel...and...If you want to go fast/race... Sportster make Big Twins look sluggish...No Matter...Dollar For Dollar.. LMK when ya have a Stock Displacement Big Twin, on Gasoline..that can run a 9 in the 1/4!!!

It says Harley on the tank, it is made by Harley, they raced them on dirt... all things are true if you smoke enough weed before thinking about them...
I owned and rode quite a few XLCH's back in the day and loved every minute of it. The only off-color comments I ever heard were from the posers, not the "hardcore".
While Sportsters may be smaller, and have a BS image of being a girls bike, or whatever, truth is they are one of the classic Harleys, starting in the late 50's,......up until they ended the line a few years ago. They replaced it with a joke of a motorcycle, and like ALL the Harleys produced today, are an embarrasing and pathetic end to the iconic motorcycles we all loved, and still do. I have owned three Sportsters, and what is most obvious is how much lighter, and sportier they are to ride. I have owned many big twins, and would not give up my Shovel, or my Road King for a Sportster,.....but having one as a second bike would be great. Someday I may find myself with a pre-95 883 or 1200......with the small 2.5 gallon peanut tank...they are pure classic Harley, and fun to ride. Simple...light....and have their own sound unlike any of the big twins. Its not an either / or proposition......they are both great motorcycles.
I have to add this, even if off topic.....I saw some dude today on a softail, big high-rise bars, big back tire....and loud pipes. All great stuff........but the guy is wearing a full-face helmet, like some punk on a crotch rocket Could have been worse if he would have been wearing a backpack like most of younger crowd.. I know....I know......its a safety thing. I ride with an open face 3/4 quarter helmet, always have, because don't want a flat spot on the side of my head. But.....it just seems wrong to see a full face helmet on a guy riding some chopper looking bike,....... I can barely take it on a dresser. And here in the Pittsburgh area, which is one of the largest group of Harleys I have ever seen on the road, it almost commonplace now to see full face helmets...almost all. The true Harley guys are now riding trikes.....cause they are too old to hold up a real motorcycle,.......so times have changed. I think its sad, and a little pathetic what has replaced it. End of an era unlike any other.
As I have said before....the best of Harley is behind us, and I think the best of real Harley riders are behind us.....replaced with something less. Truly....something less.
