It seems to me that more Softails were sold to girls in the 2000's than Sporty's. We all have different opinions of what's a girls bike. Personally I have always looked at Softails as just wannabe rigids for those who couldn't hack the real thing.

A lot of ladies bought Softails due to low seat height and center of gravity, Sportsters really are a bit top heavy.

I had a '77 XLT, Sportster "Touring" model. I think they only made them one year, dubbed the "baby bagger". It came with windshield and hard saddlebags. I sure didn't tour on it.

Book shows 1099 in `77 and 6 in `78 so "one year " is close enough

Never understood “girls bike”. Loved the sporty we had, fun bike to ride.

My wife rides a Ultra Limited, guess it’s a girls bike 😂

I do not ride her much, but when I do I remember how much fun they are and nice to have in the fleet for every once in a while. I rode this two up with my girlfriend, now wife, from NYC to Buffalo, Cleveland and then back across Pennsylvania. 10 day trip, stopped to do laundry once. We were a lot smaller then and did know any better.

Bike will be 35 next year my plan is to bring her to the AMCA meet at Oley PA, her first year eligible. Then to Reading MC to rip her down their 1/8 drag strip. I often think about selling her to some young guy that will put another 20k miles on her, but then I get sentimental. Doesn't cost me anything to keep her and she always starts right up. I broke down about 3 years ago and got new tires, between me and my brother we guessed the tires on there were from the 90's. Almost got killed on her in 1991 by an old man who thought he could blow a stop sign and beat me through an intersection, but I am still here.

Funny I could have sold her about 20 years ago for $3k, today I probably would get the same $3k.

skinnier an dumber? I got fatter and older, when will I get smarter? Lol
