A guy I know just bought a 1976 anniversery, Bicentnial electraglide, it was a 1 owner with 31,000 miles, it's all origanal and has the papers where it was bought.
What do you think it's worth in money wise.

you got that right Thunderbolt and you definitely have a nice ride. That's why my intro thread is entitled "New member intro and proud owner of a broken soul"

I agree......it doesn't really make any difference that it's a Bicentennial motorcycle. At least to most people. Any Shovel in good condition will bring $7k - $10k, at least around here. I have actually seen a couple for sale in the $5k-$6k range this last year. Wish I had the extra scratch as I would have picked them up.
If his bike is all original, I'd keep it that way. You can't hardly find them untouched anymore. In a few years that will make his bike more valuable. I've got an '80 FLT (33,000 miles) that about 95% original and have all the parts to turn it back in original trim but I'd be lucky to get $8k-$9k out of it.

They can be picked up for $5000 to $7000 in similar condition in Northern Ohio. Haven't seen very many that would sell for more than that & I looked at a bunch of them before I bought the one in my signature. One of the biggest problems I found was that most were titled as homebuilts with questionable VINS. Shovelheads with homebuilt titles can be a nightmare...

The bike in my signature is a great, original paint, two owner, BiCentenial Shovelhead. 32,000 miles. Came with the detachable tourpak, chrome motor covers & rider backrest. I bought it three or four weeks ago. (I'm the third owner not counting the dealer that sold it & took it as a trade once.) It is solid and runs great. It is easily one of my favorite bikes. I have turned it into my daily rider and have put over 700 miles on it. My 06 Classic & 65 Pan sit in my garage. It's not really for sale but you show me $10,000. and you can own this shovelhead as I bought it.

I may be a little bit prejudiced, but being the proud owner of a Liberty Edition FLH myself..they are priceless...LOL

Seriously, my bike is insured replacement for 9 grand, and now that I got all original skin back on it..except for the fairing(see post)..I plan to up that to 10,000. Not bad for what I bought it for 15 years ago(1500.00) and alot of skinned knuckles reclaiming her "soul". It now has about 75,000 on it..had about 25, 000 when I bought it.

Its chromed a little bit but mostly stock and I plan to keep it that way.

Pictures to follow when I get the fairing on, sticking with leather bags but got the hard bags to go on it.

Hope your buddy enjoys his ride, I know I do mine.

Here's my 1978 FLH 80" I bought about a year and a half ago for $5,600.
The picture with the solo seat is how I got it. The second photo is how it looks today.
I got alot of stuff from E-Bay; seat, luggage rack, sissy bar, passenger floorboards, etc.
I don't want to sink a ton of cash in to it. I just want a respectable ride for a reasonable amount of money.
You can find alot of nice parts on E-Bay for not too much money, it depends on what you want to pay.
I have the front fairing, hard bags and trunk also, and was thinking about putting those on to get it back to the stock look, but they are all in need of some fiberglass work and don't know if I'd like it any better.
We'll see.
