Default primary chaincase vacuum

do any of you ever check the primary chaincase vacuum on your bikes? I checked mine today because i was thinking of sealing off the primary, but I appear to have a leak up by the starter somewhere. It doesn't leak any oil right now, but i'm thinking that it's sucking dirty air in through the leak instead of clean air from the oil tank through the vent hose. Anyone else ever check this? Am I thinking right, or may this cause other problems, besides oil contamination?

You know slat, thats one of the things I've NEVER done on a shovel. I always kept my gaskets and seals in good shape, but eventually went to a belt drive, which eliminated the issue. Good luck. Sometimes it's hell keeping the primary from leaking.

I picked up an original NOS guage on e-bay a while back. When I checked the primary case I didn't quite get what the manual stated but I did have a reading. The later manuals have you pinch off the vent and run the motor at 1500 rpm's when you make the test. The reading in the later manuals should be 20. 65 to early 66 didn't have a vent hose from the primary case.

I was lucky enough to be able to make my own fitting, but didn't get any measurement whatsoever. I had a couple of leaks, and fixed all but one now(I hope). Now I just need to find a new oil deflector plate for the starter...
