Default What about this 1984 FXE?

I would like to apologize for posting these threads asking about this bike and that but it was really helpful and I think I found a much better bike thanks to everyones help.

This is a fully titled, fully running bike that has been in the owners family for 20 years. 33,000 miles and a few extra parts. He's asking $4800 but I haven't talked money yet because I was looking for a second opinion. I am most interested in the motor and trans and would like to sell off whatever I don't need for my project. As far as the bike goes as a whole, is this a good deal?

Thank you for any opinions you have and I really appreciate all the help that was offered from my last post. Hopefully this will turn into a sale and I can switch to asking technical question on tech pages.

Just from the pic it seems to be a realistic asking price,as long as everything is good !

I'd agree with Flying. Looks like a realistic price as long as everything works as advertised. Hate to see you tear it down, but that's your choice.

Remember the Title goes with the frame. You will have to get a builders title which may be a hassle in your state. Check with you DMV on what is required or you may set yourself up for a nightmare in paper work to register the new build.

I am starting to feel bad about tearing her down as well. Seems to pretty to do that.
As far as titling, I need to call around a little and see how difficult it will be in PA. I know there's a shop that does special titling not too far from where I live so I'm going to see what he has to say. Someone told me that I would be able to take the VIN plate off of the frame and have it titled to a new frame but I don't know how true that is.
Thanks guys for all of your help. Ride safe.

Looks pretty near stock 'cept for the obvious pipes and carb. Man it'd be a shame to part it out.

What do you mean by taking off the vin, sence it's stamped into the frame. You can always do a speical constution. Just check with your secatary of state on there rules and keep every bit of paper work

Please do not mess with the VIN,it will de-value the bike and get you in trouble as well.It is a very bad idea,so I do not recomend it.

Ok you want to make a bobber. Isn't a bobber just a striped down bike. ( i'm not into bobbers or even really looked at them so i'm really vague on them) If this is the case them why not use the origanal frame to build one? I agree with flying don't mess with the vin because it will cause nothing but headacks!!!!!!

Default Save the frame

You've got three numbers in your hand if you get that bike. One is on the title, one is on the frame, and one is on the bottom end of the motor. A smart guy wouldn't separate them, especially on a bike that is over 30 years old. Build whatever you want, however you want, but those three things should always stay together. If I were you I'd spray a few cans of primer on the frame and put it in the attic (don't wrap it up) and someday you might be very glad you did.
