Speedo Dash Light

Hey All:

Got my dash apart / tanks off (internal rust-crud don't ya' know). Anyway, neutral light stayed on constantly, replaced circuit breaker, now all OK, but...

The speedo dash light does not illuminate and I can't remember if it only lights when the bikes running or should it light when I turn the ignition switch on to the "Lights" position/bike not running? Everything else illuminates when in this position with the bike not running.

So, if it's supposed to be on what is the deal? I replaced the bulb, used di-electric grease, can find no shorts, etc. Can the little bulb socket thing go bad?

Please help...

My dash lights only come on with the H-lamp.Check the socket connections as you may have a corrosion issue.

Hey Flying: Thanks for the response. Like I said, everything else comng off that post of that circuit breaker works as it should. The dash bulb is on a single wire coming off that post. It can only be the socket, right? I swapped out multiple bulbs (that came in a pack), just to be certain it was not a bulb issue. I'll let you know how I make out as I will be buying a new pigtail wth socket today.

If you have access to a multimeter, you can check to see if you have a power problem or a bad ground. Did you remove the dash plate? If you did make sure you have it tightened back down good so it makes a good ground.
