Just replaced the push rod seals on my 77 FLH and now oil is spewing out the top of the push rod covers (not a few drops but like it is pumping it out). Used HD cork seals. I have taken it apart several times and see nothing wrong, except for the oil pouring out the top. Any and all ideas greatly appreciated.
replace the cork seals at the top and bottom of the pushrod with rubber, leave the cork in the center spot, and make sure the spring is putting pressure on the clip, sometimes they stick.
hay chaos333 I used cork for a long time i all ways clean rockerbox with brake cleaner & a rag it gets rid oil wear the cork seats you can't use ruber Orings if your push rod covers are made for cork there is a lip on the top & botom of the push rod covers to stop the ruber Oring moving if no lip use cork only .

He didn't say oring
He said rubber
As in the rubber quad seals that have been available for 20 - 30 years, as a direct replacement for the corks.
I've only ever used corks, I figure the factory used them new and we never had problems then, but make sure there isn't an old one or part of an old one still up in there and clean and dry is the key..... billy g

You clearly just do not get it
There is a rubber replacement for the corks, same dimensions, and designed to fit exactly like a cork, with the same year model pushrod tubes
It is not soft
It is not a little oring type quad seal
It is the exact same dimensions as the cork
There is always one in a crowd..................
QUAD SEAL, which is what it is, and that is what I said
Not ruber(sic) oring, or quad oring, which is what you said
Unrealllllllllllllllllll......................
You clearly do not know..... and thats ok... no crime there.
But trying to correct someone who does know, when you clearly do not, thats where you are going wrong
You clearly have no idea what they are, and you were not trying to make a suggestion, you were trying to correct jmetro, only you were wrong
