my guy got a 1989 shovelhead. we can't seem to figure out where the vin is. We found one on the neck of the bike, after sanding some paint off. but it is only 9 digits long with a star at the end and begining. Can anyone tell me if I have figured this out and where to find info on this bike using this number???? thank you very much!!!!
Sassy, Shovels were all gone by '85. The nine digit vin was gone by '82. What is the vin? We'll decode it for you.
One last thought...how about removing the cowl and checking further around the front of the neck. Kinda long shot since the frame number was supposed to be visible for LEO inspection. Maybe with the old front end set up it would be?
When the bike was new, it had a VIN sticker plainly visible...my 83 still has one.
