The bike run fine no missing or popping just eratic idle when she gets hot but runs good when I put a load on her. that what brings me to think that the advance weights are sticking or wearing. I am new to points so you have to bear with me on this just trying to get into the points thing here. If I take out the plate first mark it check out the advance to see if okay or move the weights and if I put the plate back in and dont touch anything else to I have to adjust anything like timing or points again Thanks again for your help

I would. Even if you marked it, who says it's set right? points wear and the opening point will become later as they wear, as the gap will also become less. At the very least check it before and after you take it apart.

your going to have to set your timing again which is something that you should learn how to do anyway. Its not difficult.

Default Electronic Pick Up

I changed the points to Dyna S Dual Fire. DSK6-1 Bike runs great. SOMETIMES I get a cough at idle. My question is should I change the point gap or keep them at stock gap?? I use #4 plugs.

??? You don't have points if you have the Dyna S , what did I miss there ? The cough could be bit lean , what carb you running? I think your talking spark plugs not points ? Open your plug gap up a bit with electronic ign you can run up to .045" just depends on your bikes setup and condition . I'll add .005" extra gap and run it for a while no issues add another .005" and try it . If it gets hard to start or you can feel it drop off back .005 to .007 and leave them . Most fall between .040 to .045" .

I meant plug gap. I'm running a Keihin butterfly. Not sure of the jet size. I'll try widening the gap .005 and make sure the carb is still set a liitle rich and go from there. I will go with a better carb in the future. Thanks!! VJ
