There is a common phenomena among a lot of shovel owners I see all the time . Some always have a flock of really tiny but very noisy birds around them when it comes time to do something simple and not costly at all . Easy to pick these guys out because of the birds flying all around screaming CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP !!

Just to note:the above tip isn't as drastic as it seems.Hub will usually break free with a light rap with the hammer. In fact there is a "store bought" tool to do the same thing. And yes,I have the "proper" tool as well. But I also have a drawer full of "authorized" tools and I seldom use 1/2 of them because my own homemade versions simply work better.

When it comes to reamers and such you are correct, gotta have the right tool. And I do have the all of the necessary ones. But sometimes a homemade tool may work better than the "Authorized" version. Here's a few "Unauthorized" versions...
This Hi-Tech gadget is used to measure the 13/16" distance from starter to clutch rod.

Clutch hub nut with a washer from a flatside tank.Allows use of gear puller to remove hub w/out removing kicker cover and pushrod.

To remove frozen hub w/slide hammer. Not my welding...

Made this years ago before I had a "real" one.1990-up clutch compressor.

Used in place of primary cover to troubleshoot starter problems.I've got several versions.

Valve spring compressor.

To remove and install battery strap.

Removes gas tank dents from the inside thru the filler hole.Reaches the corners of a FatBob tank.Hitch ball is counter weight.

For alignment and tension of primary belt.Love this thing!

Battery terminal puller. For removing Sportster tappet blocks.

Not homemade but kickass tool.Removes/installs pushrod clip.
