Default smoke coming from vented primary

My 73 has smoke coming from the vented primary. It is a dry system with a belt drive.Pulled the primary and the belt is ok primary is dry and the smell is not an oil burning smell. The stator and rotor were changed 2 years ago and working fine. The rotor however was very hot to the touch. The bike never shut down. Everything work on the bike. Does anyone think the stator windings may have burnt up. Didn't take an ohm reading on the windings yet. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do the charging system tests if you don't see or smell any belt junk , about all it could be is stator cooked .

Finally took the bike apart. The stator was fried and not sure why, it is only 2 years old was a 32 amp system. Replaced it witha spyke 32 amp setup. Crossing my fingers this one lasts a little longer.

Updated mine from 22 to a 32 amp system. Used Cycle Electric components. Bit more expensive but American made and with a solid reputation.
