update! went over to friends house as he wanted me to try and start the bike, pulled the enricher on and gave it three kicks left enricher on and turned on key, cracked gas and it fired first kick. i rode it all over the hood and it seems to be idling alittle high, but when you idle it down it's making a noise that sounds like the compensator loose, a rattle.at first i thought it was in the front head, but it sounds like it in the primary. sounds like my 55 pan with the tins on it. i kept telling him when he was trying to start it before it should run with the enricher on. he acts like he scared to give it any gas. i don't want to offend anyone, but he kicks it like a girl. we'll see if he has ant more problems with it, i just don't see this being a very good engine after being locked up,but he can't ride it till he heals up. any insight on what the noise could be, i held some rags over the pipes so you could hear the motor and at alittle higher idle speed the motor does sound good and quite.
update electric start installed at the same shop that did all the other work. starts and sounds like it runs good but has that noise, going to go for a ride with him today. he's put about a hunderd miles on it so far. he has put $7500 in this thing and it still looks like ****, we'll see has it preforms.
rode with my friend yesterday and his bike is now leaving a oil trail out of the breather. you could see the trail of oil after we pulled into the parking lot, itold him to park it as it's going to make the tire slippery and put him on his head. any ideas?
well i told him that from the gitgo, but this dude is really hardheaded.i tried selling him a brick, told him it was the hope diamond but it was a no go. anyway he rode it again yesterday and said it wasn't doing it but he didn't take it on the highway either. we'll see how it goes as the rings should be seated by now. makes me wonder though as this shop repaired the breather gear cavity. i'd take it right back as they did all the work and should have a warrenty. poor bastard spent a ton of cash on this thing and it still is not right. thing is if he takes it back they'll sell him something else.
update! my friend talked to shop today and they said they put a wench on the motor and got it to turn over, they ran motor 3 times and said it has good compression and all is good. i ask him what they said locked up motor in the first place, they told him it got real hot real fast and just quit.that motor was locked up tight for 2 days when i seen it.how in the hell do they what got hurt in the motor without taking it apart? i would want the motor tore down and looked at,something has got to be damaged.before he left they talked him into rebuilding his transmission! i think his momma must have dropped him on his head when he was a baby.
If I was paying for someone to do a rebuild and it locked up tight, I'd at the bare minimum make them pull the jugs for a looksee. I guess money is no object for this guy but the shop?? Man, these guys take the cake and yea, after it's ridden around a lot, future stuff they'll just blame on him. Should have nailed them back when it first happened.
He kicks it like a girl???? Man, next time get a video........
you know i was wondering if the pressure relief valve in the oil pump could be hanging up ans causing this? this would make a good comic book adventure story as it seems to be never ending. i sure hope it works out for him as he alot of fun to drink beer with.
he got a nice check from his ex passing away, she forgot to take him off of her life ins. policy and she hated his *** too, now she's gonna be paying for new sheet metal. hell, he might have the whole thing dipped in gold before it's all over. i know we drank alot of beer on her the other night. this has been the biggest windfall he's ever had. i just hope the bike shop don't end up with it all.
nice day in st.louis on easter. went for a ride and all seems good with his motor , amazing. we'll see how long it lasts when we get out this summer and really put some miles on.
