Default Drag pipes or not

I like the sound of my fish tail but thinking about switching to drag pipes on my 78 1/2 FL Shovel. What do you think? Would like to find a used set if anybody has some to get rid of.

I had fishtails on my Panhead and drag pipes on my '75 FXE. Personally, I love upsweep fishtails but they weren't avalible for my shovel back then. But drag pipes on a shovel are awesome.

You'll give up a lot of grunt by putting drag pipes on.

not just that--- i see people use 2" drag pipes and thats even worse -- fishtails?? i take more of them off -- they dont flow -- to long -- junk-- remember most of us have tried all the custom stuff -- thats why ya dont see us with fishtails -- drag pipes -- and those new pipes that are super short and tun down in the center -- get a good set of 2 into 1's i made my own --

put drag pipes on my 83 FXRT because I wanted to use them as headers with no crossover...
long story short, used the dragpipes for a while with the lollipops in it... lost a LOT of lowend torque. As soon as mufflers were back, WOW what a difference

Really a personal preference. I got the side staggereds...but I'd rather get a nice set of Paughco True Duals.

If you really want to go there, and your engine is near stock, use 1 3/4", 39" long and re-jet. But as others have said, a 2into1 or muffled true duels will get you more horsepower and torque.

I bought mine with drag pipes and will not change. It is the best sounding harley I have ever heard.

If you are going for sound, drag pipes
