So let me ask... when you marry the other frame section to the current one, do you put a piece if tubing to strengthen the joint inside the frame or just taper the joint and weld it? Is the weld strong enough if well done?
This a freaking awesome project. I love fabrication. I wish I was that talented. Maybe I am and I don't know. Lol

Thanks! On the lower section I'm making some little blocks I'll take a pic of later, they will slide into the tube and be welded in, then the frame will bolt to them. It was just the easiest way I could come up with to marry the two pieces together because the width of the frame tubes were off by an inch. The upper tube I'll just chamfer the ends and butt weld them together which will be just as strong as any other part of the tube.
Old frame piece I saved to salvage the bends from Should be able to use a bend out of these to blend the new and old frame together. Blocks I made to slide into my frame and mate to the street glide frame. I'll weld them in place and bolt to the street glide frame.
Not going to any welding tonight I'm beat. Probably going to wait for the weekend.
Tomorrow's project is to make some new bushings for the new swing arm to fit the old bolt size. The '09 and up swing arm has a larger diameter bolt and I can't use it unless I pulled the trans and bored out the hole to the bigger size and that ain't gonna happen right now.
Well, after measuring about 1000 times I got the frame welded up. Swing arm in with mods to it to make it work, still need to do more to it but it's in place at least. This week I'll finish up the swing arm mods. I have a rear pulley coming in the mail this week so we'll see how alignment will go with that. I'm going to have to get the thinnest belt made to make this work I think. The whole belt alignment has me stumped still, if anyone has some input on this let me know!
nice work....I did a skinny belt on my 94 softail to fit a 170 tire an on my 02 V rod to fit a 240....both times I spaced the rear pulley away from the wheel to clear the tire. If you're going way out you may have to get a primary offset kit.
