The Pingle is made much better, better material,,, on the '09 the OE Shaft stripped out at around 40k, the Harley replacement stripped out just 3k later (thinking HD had a bad run of them??) Both times, the bolts were tight as hell, with blue loctite, and new bolts on the replacement... 40 years on HDs and it has never happened on any other Bike...
Before I knew there was a pingel shaft I decided to make my own. Old Harley's had a zerk fitting on the shifter shaft housing. I bought a self tapping 90 degree zerk fitting and installed it on the shaft housing. The zerk fittings are on Ebay at;http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-4-28-Threa...IAAOSwYGFUtrur
I have no connection with this eBay add or seller. Here is a photo of my installation. I grease it a couple times per year. I can tell a difference as far as a smooth shift.

Removed the shaft, drilled / tapped the housing and installed a 45* Zerk fitting. Little shot of good high temp, waterproof grease once in a while and good to go...
Me too, and it saved me a full $100, as I had extra zerks in the garage already....
The Zerk fittings are also available at any mom 'n' pop automotive parts store that sells Dorman parts, or Harbor Freight Tools sells assorted Zerk kits...
