Bought an inexpensive Modular helmet from Cycle Gear about a year ago and have had no problems, comfortable and very Hi vis yellow{yep - ugly but folks see me coming}. Yesterday while out on a nice 300+ mile ride we stopped in Superior to take a break from the 25 - 30 mph winds. Set the helmet on the seat and a gust of wind litterally blew it off the bike.
It landed in the gravel seriously scratching the visor but the worst part was the tiny little spring that tensions the visor disappeared. Took it back to Cycle Gear today seeking a new visor and a replacement spring only to be told that the visor/springs and any other parts were no longer available. It seem the helmet was manufactured in 2012 but sold to me in 2017 as new. Never would have bought it, even at the seemingly good {clearance} price of $100 had I known.
After a bit of discussion the store manger stepped up and gave me the full $100 credit towards a brand new {2018} Hi vis green replacement. The new $129 helmet {on sale for $119} went home with me for $21.76.
This is not the first time I have had great customer service from CG and why I will continue to shop there.
I don't buy much there because they seem to be geared more towards the sport bike and young cruiser crowd but what I have bought has been good quality stuff. I've also had to return an item and it was no questions asked. I also don't like to go to the one in Little Rock, AR because it's not in the best neighborhood.
I had a helmet interior shade cease operating after a couple years of regular use. Took it in they said me to "go get a new one" and fill out the little form. 5 minutes later, I walked out with a new, FREE helmet. I still use it on my adv bike daily.
Their "Sedici" line has a lifetime guarantee while the "Bilt" has a 5 year.
Im due for a new fron tire. I checked their prices. Same as Amazon and online parts warehouses. They mount and balance fo $25.
Think Ill go to Cycle Gear
