Had to resurrect this thread. With the reviews here and the rest of the research I have done, I'm certain sure the wife will be getting Progressive suspension mods on her Deuce ASAP. And then I get a set for my Springer but...Ladies first.
Focus for her is lowering the bike 1.5-2" and ride quality.
I read how the 422 is essentially a next-gen 413. Do they ride significantly different? Reason I ask is because it looks like I can get a set of 413's for $75-100 less than the 422's. That money I could throw toward the fork springs.
I've got some time before I need to nail down the shocks. We picked up a set of lowering bolts for the stock shocks for $25. That will get the ride height where we want it for now, at least for the back. The Progressive shocks are still on the wish list, they just fell in priority.
Now I am hunting for the best price for the fork lowering kit, Progreessive part no 10-1561. This IS a right now item. So far, Phat Perf is the lowest I have found at $76.95....$83 with shipping.
I have installed the 422's on my 97 Heritage softail,a vast improvement in handling.I think I have the preload a little on the firm side at the moment,it seems to be fine for carrying a passenger but throws me off the saddle when hitting a bump riding solo.I'm told by Progressive Suspension the maximun to minimun preload adjustment is approximately 8 turns. It's just a matter of experimenting until you get it right,so I will be making a 1 turn adjustment at a time until I get the correct compromise.
