I have a different fairing, but I used pull risers with my apes. Don't know if that will help in your case.

Reckless has the worst customer service. That's why I'd never recommend anyone buying from them.

Hope you get it worked out

Mine was already on the bike and painted to match when I bought it. Bought the bike for my son in May 2012. I talked to one of their Reps at Thunder Beach this past spring about the power supply hook up and the crappy radio on the older versions and realized real quick like that all he wanted was to avoid any of my questions. Love the fairing but hate their Customer Service. I'll get this resolved one way or the other.

Well I went to my local hardware store and bought a sheet (8"x18") of 20ga steel. Not nearly as thick as the Oem reckless fairing but it should be good enough for me to cut and mock a new set of brackets with the new measurements. Also I reached out to a buddy of mine who installs custom auto shop in the mid west and he assured me that I should be able to cut even 1/8" thick steel or SS with a jig saw. So I'm gonna make a set out of the 20ga Steel and if I get the measurement perfect but the 20ga is not sturdy enough then I'll just cut another set and sandwich a pair per side. I'll keep you guys posted because I'm determined to get this installed one way or another.

I have 2002 heritage and run 14" wild1 apes with a reckless fairing that I got off eBay new for $185 shipped. I ran into the same problem of having to roll my bars way too far back to clear the fairing. The solution I came up with was a set of 2.5" pull back risers. They move the bars back just far enough to clear the fairing and still keep your hand position were I like it. With the stock risers I like my bars slightly forward of being inline with the forms. Hope this helps......

Thanks Andybloom! and Cozy - your bike is my inspiration as to how I want mine to look (fairing, wheels - everything) its just freakin CLASSIC and I love it.

Now onto my Gripe - the only issue well I have a few issues with the Pullback risers is that 1. they cost almost $200 and 2. I don't know if I have enough slack on the lines (brake, throttle, etc) so then that would possibly add to the cost of having to purchase newer longer lines. I might be able to get away with a 1.25inch riser but again with the added cost I'm hesitant to take the leap.

There will be a Local HD yard sale or used parts parking lot sale tomorrow - I might venture out there and if I happen to find a used set of risers for cheap then I might bite.

Again I'll keep you guys posted and Thanks again to all those that contributed with their 2 cents - it is truly worth 100 times more than that to me.

Here is a link to the set I bought:

I was worried about cable and brake line length also, but you are really only raising them just over an inch higher. With different routing of cables and line you should be able to make it work.

andybloom - Thanks again you

I took a leap of faith and bought the same riser you suggested plus I also bought a new set of top and bottom mount bolts (because of Murphy's law -you know) that brought the total price to just under $70 shipped - wish me luck.

and of course I will update this post once I get everything in the mail.

I know probably doesnt help, but when I decided to turn mine into a Softail bagger I changed my bars to 14" Chubby wild ones bagger apes. They just touch the fairing and are pushed just forward of being inline with forks, pretty much straight up. I just did 2200 mile trip and had no comfort issues other than no cruise...lol.

I went to the Reckless booth at Bikes Blues & BBQ in Fayetteville and the guys there seemed to work harder at avoiding questions than answering them. And my question was simple too. The guy I dealt with had a South African or Aus accent. He wasnt helpful at all. On flip side I did have a question on wiring when I installed it and the chick transferred me to a tech and he WAS helpful.

FWIW, if funds were not an issue...there are other fairings that the inner looks better, more polished... I would have gone that way.
