I also have a Dyna Lowrider (04) and love them both but the Softail is just a different ride all togeather. On long trip the softail is the one that I ride and better ride but in town and short trips I like to ride the lowrider, quick and fun!
As far as prices on the 06, this link will give you a guide on what 06 are selling for.
After looking at HD Trader $16k seems like a good price. It doesnt seem so bad whn I was quoted $14500 OTD (tax, prep, freight inc.) for a black 07 Street Bob (dealer Open house, checking out different bikes). After buying the Sportster less than a year ago Im not sure how my non-rifing wife is goiung to take this?
Has anyone replaced the floor boards with forward controls? If so, did it give more ground clearance? How would the ride of a Deluxe compare to a Heritgae or Standard?
Here's a crappy picture of mine. It's all I have in this computer right now.
If price is the issue, look for a used one with low miles and punch it out to 95" if you feel the nEed. I love mine for cruising the boulevards and visiting my favorite local establishments. And making some noise. I get a true 50 MPG with a big sucker A/C and VH big shot longs with a PC III. You won't regret the money spent no matter what way you go.
You should be able to get a 05or a 06 for about 15,000. Check cycle trader. My wife rides a deluxe. It is a great bike and I enjoy just cruising around on it. Also does very well on the interstate, low and heavy.
