I'm guessing that you have tried the virtual US address:

Thanks everyone, very helpful answers. I am going to buy the combo analog speedo and tach and install it myself before taking it for inspection.

If you are spending the money on a new speedo/tach, do it right and pick up the Dakota Digital. This way you are not stuck with miles or kilometers only.

Indeed. But its about the mark up in Canada and protecting the Canadian HD market. The US pricing kills the price we pay up here..

Default Canadian dollar at 87 cents US

The US dollar being worth more is important to Canada. The Canadian dollar being low makes it attractive for the USA buyers. If it isn't that way we might not have jobs.In Canada we are lucky we have the resources to sell to the world.Any smart person in the USA looks at Canada and thinks if we took them over we would be so much richer-so stop your bitch-en.When I as a proud Canadian look at the world as it is I'm happy to pay extra.

Default Aussie dollar , "parallel importing"

3 or 4 years ago , the Aussie dollar went as high as $1.10 USD , having been at 65(ish) US cents since forever

US HD dealers could sell us parts and accessories here in Australia , post them airmail and the landed cost was still HALF of the local dealer price !!

That lasted maybe 2 years , and the "import rights" to new Harleys and parts cahnged from 3 private importers/distributors like Canada's "Deeleys" to a wholly owned subsidiary of the HD motor Co. "Harley-Davidson Australia"

Then the ban came in quickly to US dealers selling and posting out of the continental US.

You can still "buy" if you have a mate or associate with a US address , but it's a palaver to do so
