Default New guy here

Hey, I'm Harley from North Carolina. Just recently bought my dad's 2012 Fatboy Lo. I love riding so far. This is my first bike and sadly I have already dropped it going into a turn a little too fast. Lesson learned. I would love to hear all the tips you guys have to offer.

I am not being a jerk here Harley - But take a class, or two. I've been riding for 49 years. I took a class 10 years ago with a friend who didn't want to take it alone. Best thing I ever did. I've continued my classes every couple of years moving up the ladder. I was under the impression that after 30 years of riding I pretty much had it down. I'm a better rider after every class. As you've decided to start off with a too heavy and too powerful for most first time riders, I strongly suggest classes. They are available at most HD dealers $$, or at the local colleges for damn near free.

Thanks for the advice. I plan on taking as many classes I can. I already took Basic rider course(BRC) through MSF and plan on taking more with them since the Army pays for it.

Everyone drops it once or twice. You're ok that's all that matters. I don't know if you've taken the riders course but I recommend it highly, took it myself. They have different levels based on your experience. It can only improve your riding right?
Sounds like tho youre not an inexp rider just got a little to excited with the ride. All us harley riders learn eventually that these are cruisers and not race bikes and have limitations when turning. Slow and steady, enjoy that torque and rumble of the vtwin yknow? Especially if you have floorboards lol.
Be safe!

imo... safety course is a must. i took one about 10 years ago, and have owned over a dozen street bikes and many dirt bikes. take it easy and never ride above your limits / ability! a bike will almost always be more capable than your skill, so take it easy and naturally progress. before you know it you will be scraping your floor boards around turns!
