That paint job at my shop would have been around $1500, I guess I need to set up shop in the UK. I have a buddy on another forum (sportbike rider)who is also in the UK, and its hard for me to imagine having to pay so much to enjoy motorcycling. And if you ride a HD, its even more! Talk about finding a way to ride, no matter what.
I guess I can't complain, but I still will, just like the rest of us. Especially about gas prices, which seem to only know one direction. (up)
What is this duty and VAT? are these import taxes? I know you wanted that particular set, but jeesh 10 large! couldn't you get something simular? what happens if it gets damaged? can HD provide a matching replacement part? just curious
OUCH!!!! 10 grand is a lot of money for a paint job. But if its what you want and you can afford it (I can't) then more power to ya, enjoy.
Import duty, and Value Added Tax. They get hosed over there for anything that isn't needed to live till the next morning. I think bike parts (Hog parts anyway) should be exempted from that. I would consider my bike a necessary thing for living, wouldn't you? Besies its cheaper to feed than a Ford or Chevy car becauseit saves gas, oil, and tire rubber, right?

Oh, now I understand (wealth envy) it happens here too. Just not to the extent of our european counterparts...................YET!
