Hey guys new here and hopeing I can get some advice on where I need to be looking. I have a 2004 heritage softial Classic EFI that is throwing a p0505 code but myself or the dealer can't seem to locate the problem! Here's the rundown- idle sounds descent with a sputter every minute or so, (no engine light at idle) while riding at any steady RPM (the problem is not consistent) the bike will spit and sputter every 30sec or so I can hear it spitting in the throttle body and can feel it in the bike almost like a dead miss on both cylinders for a split second. As for the unsuccessful: replaced IAC, plugs, wires, ign coil, checked for vacuum leaks, injectors, battery voltage is good, oil in crank case is proper, it's got good gas. I'm not sure if the idle is at correct rpm, (I don't have a tac and Harley didn't mention is was right or not) not sure of the vss, (speedo shows 1mph weather bike is off without power or running) if anyone has had a similar problem or has any suggestions please let me know.
Did you try the plastic tube in the gas tank? They develop small holes in them. It's a pretty common problem and one that myself and many others on here have dealt with.

This might be it, fairly common...easy test for it, fill the fuel tank up and run it...if it still splitters, etc., probably not the in tank fuel line. If there is a pin hole, when you fill the tank it covers the hole with fuel so it is not sucking air...
Try it...hope it works. If that is it, it a pain but not hard to fix...or expensive...
Ps if you go into the tank, change the fuel filter also...they get real nasty...

I bought a used 04 efi heritage that did the same thing. the previous owner had installed v&h longshots and se breather but there was not a tuner on the bike. I guess he removed whatever he had on it when he traded it in. I put a fuelpac on it and set it up with the map provided by v&h and it has run like a top ever since. hope this helps, good luck.

I had this issue on my 02 Road King. If the bike runs fine with a full tank but has the issue when the fuel is less than fuel, this is most likely the problem.
I have the same issue with my 04 Road King FLHRI. Sputters at times, but not always. May go for months running good, then sputters for a week or two. It did trip a "front fuel injector" code, but everything looked good with the injector. Have replaced the fuel lines in tank, checked injector wiring, had bike Dyno, and checked that the engine wasn't sucking air anywhere. Now we think it may be a glitch in the ECM. Any suggestions before I buy a used ECM off ebay?
