I know it should be all about the performance, but what I hate is the ugly casing they come in! do they offer a engine black to match a TC88 engine? I just got back from sturgis and after 1700 miles of high way riding I stopped by the baker booth to ask about there 6th speed...they had a show special $3000 form $3900......
I have a 07 night train and that 6th gear is real smooth and only needed at around 75mph I heard from my local dealer that you can adapt the new 6th to the old casing...why does no one pursue this? you can probably pick up a trany on ebay for cheap....even if it might be stolen should not matter because you are using the guts...right....?
You take the guts out of the Ultima and install them into your casings. You may have to change something for the speedometer to work correctly and fiddle with something to get he neutral light switch to work correctly. From what I understand, neither of these are a big deal to fix.
I believe they also have a blacked casing.
Also, Ultima made some changes last year which fixed a seal problem making them more reliable. Hence they advertise them now as their "New" 6 speed...
