I have an 07 heritage softail classic that runs and purrs beautifully. But, after say an hour or so, at idle it starts to ping like it's low on oil. I give it some gas and the pinging stops. After I take off it stops. Only at idle or downshifting or coasting does it ping. Then, it will stop pinging all together. Anyone know a cause of have had to deal with this issue? Or, is it a harley thing to ping when hot?
Hydraulic lifter? If its not getting enough oil or a little debris in it it can cause this. What weight oil are you using and what are the temps where you are riding.
