After some digging in the forums, I've gotten the feeling that the HD Brand service manual is the only way to go. Another couple of posts suggested that I get the parts manual because of the exploding diagrams. Does anyone here have an opinion on this?

Also, how does the manual break out the differences between models? Does it assume most bikes are very similar or does it have a section for each trim?

A must have. I think the Condition of my books says it all. Parts book makes it easier to see how things go together because of exploded views
