Default Footboard pads....

Well, the rubber OEM pads on my footboards finally started breaking loose on my 02 Fatboy. I ended up buying some after market rubber inserts on EBay for $12 and they came with no round mount tabs so I simply used Weldwood Contact Cement to fasten them to the metal footboard. The after market pads were thicker and softer than the OEM pads and they work great so far. Never did like the "floating" OEM pads. Anyways, thought I'd share in case anyone elses pads are getting old and brittle.

The reason MoCo's pads have the rubber **** for mounting them to the FloorBoards is to eliminate Viberation.

When you glue them to your FB's you loose that anti-vibration ability.

If your fine with a little more Foot vibs then you'll be happy.

Actually, because the after-market are much softer, I don't notice any vibs. I ride much of the time with just my heels on the boards and toes on highway pegs and with the OEM floating pads my heel never felt solid. Way better now. To each their own I guess.....just sharing another option.

MoCo introduced the "floating" footbaord sometime in the mid-70s as I recall. I have not really noticed a great difference in the amount of vibration with/without them.

Good idea, I suspect next time mine pop out I'm gonna gorilla glue them in until I find something I like to replace them.
