Well, the 200 size tires suck for mileage. The stock tire lasted about 3800 miles before the wear bars showed; Metz 880 didn't make 3600 before cords showed through in the middle of nowhere; I run a car tire for about 6k but didn't like the corner handling and swapped it for the Commander ll Got over 5k on it but wont make another 1000. This is on a Fatboy Lo and I'm not skinny at 270 but never done a burnout or slide the tire. I'm tempted to try a 180 dresser tire on it.
I just put Commander 2's on my Lo. I got 7400 miles out of both stock Dunlop tires, replaced both at the same time. I run 42 psi front and rear, ride 40% slab, 60% 2 lane/ mountains. My experience was a good one imo.
I noticed when I mounted them -they were lighter than the stockers. I got just over 300 miles on them. To be honest, I think the stock tires felt better on the highway.
If the stock tires ever see the aftermarket - I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them. I am not going to pay dealership money for them. I will probably try the American Elites next.
I am glad the OP is ok. Don't take this as a slam on the Commanders, I would pay attention to what more TX riders are using no matter what.
I lived in TX for a year and it doesn't compare to GA with regard to heat and road surfaces.
J&P cycles has a sale on Commander II's right now until June 30Th. I just ordered a rear for $167.37 with free shipping and arrived at my door in 2 days. I used promo code 1MTS. I haven't put them on yet but have read nothing but great reviews. Here's a link to the web site. http://www.jpcycles.com/?utm_source=...=c&matchtype=e
Appreciate all the replies, guys. I did go ahead and order a Commander II, should be here Tuesday and I'll try my hand at pulling the rear wheel (the service manual has saved me a small fortune, already!)
Will make it a point to update with my impressions of the stock Dunkop vs the Michelin.

So, you've had a season with the Commander II's.... what do you think of them?
