Default Vance & Hines Fuel Pack.

Just got the fuel pack delivered that was used to re-map my Breakout. My experience of these is that they stay connected to the bike. But now it seems they're used with Bluetooth and an app. I was thinking I could use it to tune my friends sportster but we've found it that it is unique to one bike only. Is it best to leave it connected to the bike or back in the box. I've added a screaming eagle big sucker so I'm thinking it now needs another remap. Anyone have experience with this they can share?
Thanks

I may be wrong but I thought they have to stay on the bike. I believe they modify the stock ecm signal and reprocess it through the tuner. I don't think it reflashes the stock ecm like some of the other tuners.

If you changed the air cleaner since it was last mapped you do need to re-do the map. Once it's used on a bike it's the only bike it can be used on. You do not have to leave it on the bike.

I just tuned my bike with a FP3. It's so easy a cave man could do it. I suggest reading the FAQ that is part of the FP3 app for your phone. All of your questions will be answered.

No, you can remove the FP3 as soon as you're done flashing the ecm. Only leave it on if you're running autotune or you just want to see the other features through your cell phone.

Fellow caveman here, love my Fuelpak3!

If the OP is talking about a Fuelpak3, once you do the initial flash the Fuelpak3 is then married to that particular bike using that bikes VIN number which then renders it useless for any other bike.

The Fuelpak3 can be disconnected from the bike when you are satisfied with the flash/programming. However if you are going to use the auto tune feature, you must leave the Fuelpak3 connected during the auto tune. Once you are satisfied with the auto tuning process, you then must upload/flash the ECM with that map. After that you can once again disconnect the fuelpak3 and ride on.

If you want to monitor engine functions while riding, you must have the Fuelpak3 hooked up to your bike.

If you do not want to monitor your engine while riding or auto tune, you simply leave the unit at home ( make sure your girlfriend does not confuse it with a new t.v. Streaming device ) .

The Fuelpak3 is a flash tuning device. The older fuelpaks are a inline device that stay connected between your ECM and your fuel injection to genericly change air fuel mixture to a ballpark setting and must remain connected at all times.

I installed the FP3 after having a bad experience with the dealer's Stage 1 "download".
It was awful, but the FP3 cured everything.
Better power, smoother, much lower oil temps, and it even sounded better.
I even ran AutoTune a few times just to play with it, but I always wound up returning to the base suggested map - for V&H BigShots, quiet baffles, 103ci.
It was and still is the best map I've found so far...

Riders get the "Fuel paks " confused. The original Fuel pak was a piggy back unit with adjustable pods and stayed plugged into and on the bike. The new Fuel pak (Fp3) is a flash type download tuner and does "mate" to the VIN # when used. I believe you can have them Re-issued through V&H for a second bike, for a fee.
