I just installed new handlebar riser bushings, the polyurethane ones, I believe part # 56165-03. In the book it says to torque the "lock nuts" to 25-35 ft lbs. I torqued the two long bolts that go up through the bottom and into the riser itself to 30 ft. lbs. Is this correct? I cannot find the lock nuts they speak of. The bike is a 1994 FLSTC. Thanks.
It looks as though the riser studs have been replaced with bolts, that's what I was confused about. It has bolts going through with lock washers on it. Does anyone run it this way or should I try to find the correct studs? Harley no longer sells the studs, only the lock nuts.

You'll be fine, don't forget to add Loctite. Your service manual says torque values 30-35 lbs? Those are the values to use then. I've seen specs vary on riser bolt torques, it's a half inch bolt and for it to snap would be unusual at that torque.
Once you have the risers in place, fit your bars and top clamps, sit on your seat and move the bars back and forth if they will. Re-torque the riser bolts once again.

What he said. With my apes, I had to add cut aluminum under the top clamps to keep the bars in place.
