2016 Fat Boy S.....
I am buying the Vance and Hines as well, I am not putting a tuner! I believe and was told that the sllip-ons do not require a tuner and it is just fine.
That is what I was told also. Way cheaper without the tune. There is no issue at all with backfiring or the motor running hot. Runs great (have about 200 miles on the new slip-ons). I actually like the quiet baffles better than my stock baffles with the vance and hines 2 into 2. The quiet baffles take out the "high end note" and leaves the deep rumble. When you hit it hard it is still loud but that gives my wife control over how loud her bike is when she rides. Good luck. Ride Safe!
Here are my observations on the Vance&Hines (quiet baffles) after 250 miles on them:
PROS
1- Bike looks sick with the V&H (in special the chrome tips sticking out)
2- Bike sounds like a Harley (I have to say that because I only owned a few VRODS in the past-never a air cooled)
CONS
1- It is VERY LOUD... it did not just take the "high end note"
2- Some neighbors already complained about the noise!
3- THE WORST INSTALLATION ever on any previous slip-ons I ever installed!
4- The 4 screws that hold the slip-ons on the frame are almost impossible to access by hands with regular tools
5- V&H slip-ons do not have the nut welded to the muffler, so, to put the washer and nut and screw the bolt in place is simply VERY DIFFICULT, close to impossible... (I did it by applying some plumbing silicone to the nut and washer, so they stick together to the inside of the hole in order to have the bolt go in...PAIN...
6- AGAIN...VERY LOUD...I am even curious to know if they really sent me the QUIET BAFFLES...
!!!!MY MISTAKE...Just called in Vance and Hines, as I find the exhaust VERY LOUD, and I was told that the quiet baffles need to be bought separately. My is the OEM Louvered...Buying the QUIET BAFFLES and will review again.
Cheers

After a 1000 miles I decided to get a D&D fatcat 2 into one and had the bike dyno tuned. It is now like a totally different machine. Much more responsive and a lot faster.
On the dyno I gained 12 lb/ft of torque and 15 hp over the slip ons at redline. Most impressive, I added 25 lb/ft of torque between 3000 and 4500 rpm.
You spent 20K plus to get the bike. To me spending a few hundred to tune it is not excessive. You won't believe the difference
A couple of things that I'd like to address... First are the claims of the sluggish 110.. Do not believe the hype! I cheated a bit in that I had a Freedom 2 into 1 installed before I picked the bike up, but this bike is anything but sluggish. I'm a fairly aggressive rider and I find myself taking it easy on the throttle because in choosing a seat for my height, I gave away having a good back stop and the torque on this bike makes me feel like I'm going to fly off the back! I'm using the Powervision flash tuner. Initially, I loaded a base map from Fuelmoto and it ran great with that map. Then, I had it Dyno'ed and this bike became something else! A pure beast that can blow past my boys on their stage 1 Ho 103s like they're standing still. My Dyno numbers came out at 90 HP and 110 ft-lbs of torque. Can't. Say enough about the benefit of a 2 into 1 exhaust and a proper tuning on this bike. Also, I would suggest looking into a company that ceramic coats their pipes like D&D and Freedom or having your Vanson pipe ceramic coated before the install. Without it, your black pipes will began to rust in a fairly short amount of time.
The 2nd thing I would like to talk about is handling... I have no issues with this bike, especially after adjusting the suspension to my weight. However, this is considered a "Lo" model and you will scrape if you get too low. To help with this, I'm going to add a set of Progressive 422s with the remote adjustable pre-load at some point soon. This way, I can jack her up a bit for more aggressive cornering. However, the bike does not feel like the slow steering bike that they make it out to be in reviews with the stock suspension. I find it much easier to throw around than my SGS due to the weight difference. Coming from a roadster or a bobber, I guess you may feel different, but from a touring bike..... no way!
Love this Bike!!!

Vance and Hines are loud as hell. I mean anything they make is loud. You may like that. I can't stand it.
My personal preference is the Rush mufflers with the 1 3/4 inch baffles. Nice sound, perform extremely well, and less popping through the mufflers than the 2 inch baffles.

Hoping it will definitely be QUIETER.
Thanks for the input,

I wonder if you could get away with just using the bottom two holes to mount the bracket and run the wires for the light through the top hole. You still might have to drill a hole in the bracket to get the wires to the inside behind the plate... or maybe you can just run them behind the license plate and sandwich them in there.

V&H should be able to sell the slip-ons with the choice of having the quiet baffles from factory, as the baffles are very hard to install...I was able to do it in about 1 hour, but I damaged the interior back end of the pipes as it is almost impossible to slip them inside and aligning the holes for the bolt!
That is a no go with V&H for the next bike, unless they redesign it or sell them pre-installed!
Thanks everyone,
